The Communications Specialist will apply entry-level business knowledge and techniques to assist in writing and editing of publications, news releases, public service announcements, and internal/external information programs, as directed; manage/organize/provide assistance to requesting parties for public records requests; research/respond to media inquiries; and plan and/or direct special projects. This role involves preparing concepts, writing, and editing company informative brochures, newsletters, speeches, and other publications. It also includes preparing, coordinating, and scheduling visual elements like photography for projects and programs via computer networks, websites, and social media. The specialist will create advertising and promotional campaigns, including ads and public service announcements for various media platforms. A key responsibility is managing public records requests in compliance with the Tennessee Public Records Act and Sunshine Law, which involves researching accounts, organizing information from departments, compiling data, calculating fees, maintaining records, and facilitating record inspections. The role also supports media relations activities, including responding to media calls, conducting research, generating story ideas, analyzing coverage, coaching staff, and distributing media updates. Additionally, the specialist will assist in maintaining the employee business television system, including creating and editing informational slideshows and scheduling activities. They will also contribute to the production of the employee business television show 'Memphis Energized' and other informational slideshows. Planning and directing special projects, staying updated on communication trends, operating a division vehicle, and using various equipment and software are also part of the role. Other duties may be assigned.
