The Pima County Health Department is hiring a Communicable Disease Investigator I for a grant-funded position ending May 2031. The role investigates communicable disease cases and connects with people from diverse backgrounds through education, community outreach, provider engagement, and case analysis. Building trust and protecting confidential information are important to the position. The position requires proof of vaccination, or the ability to become fully vaccinated by the start date, for Tdap (within the last 10 years), Varicella, MMR, and Hepatitis B. It may also require post-offer proof of immunizations and/or TB screening. The classification may involve a high risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and communicable diseases; TB screening, hepatitis B vaccinations, safety training, and equipment will be provided in accordance with OSHA and County guidelines. A valid driver license is required at application, and a valid Arizona driver license is required at appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT motor vehicle record review, and an employment offer is contingent upon Fleet Services review and approval of the driving record. County pre-employment background checks are required. Some positions may also require a satisfactory personal background investigation or fluency in English and a second language, as determined by the appointing authority. Physical and sensory abilities and working conditions will be determined by position.
