About The Position

Prysmian is seeking a motivated and analytical Commodity Specialist to join our North America Procurement team. Reporting to the Commodity Manager, North America, this role is instrumental in driving sourcing strategies, strengthening supplier partnerships, delivering cost savings, and ensuring supply continuity across key commodity categories. As a Commodity Specialist, you will partner with suppliers and cross-functional teams to make data-driven decisions that support business growth, operational excellence, and procurement objectives. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with SAP, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting commodity management, supplier development, or strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success identifying process improvements and implementing practical business solutions.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, C.P.M., CPIM, or similar credentials a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build and cultivate strong supplier partnerships that support cost competitiveness, reliable supply, and risk mitigation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between suppliers and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment on commercial, operational, and financial objectives.
  • Collaborate across procurement, operations, engineering, and commercial teams to improve supplier performance and drive best practices.
  • Support the development and execution of commodity strategies that ensure supply security and competitive market positioning.
  • Identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard new suppliers to expand sourcing options and reduce supply chain risk.
  • Lead and support sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, and contract discussions to achieve business objectives.
  • Monitor market conditions, commodity trends, pricing movements, and supply risks, providing actionable insights to key stakeholders.
  • Partner with Operations, R&D, and suppliers to identify alternative materials, value engineering opportunities, and cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality or service.
  • Proactively communicate supply challenges, shortages, and mitigation strategies to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Maintain procurement and ERP systems, including supplier records, vendor setup, pricing updates, and material master data.
  • Support the resolution of supplier invoicing and accounts payable discrepancies.
  • Prepare monthly procurement reports and analytics for local and corporate leadership.
  • Communicate supplier pricing updates, service performance, and market developments to commercial and operational teams.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and support Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) initiatives.
