About The Position

The Supply Chain Strategic Sourcing Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, managing competitive bidding processes, negotiating pricing, and overseeing supplier relationships within assigned commodity categories. This role collaborates closely with clinical and operational leaders across The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center to identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and enhanced supply chain performance. The Commodity Manager leads strategic sourcing initiatives, conducts market analysis and supplier benchmarking, and develops category management strategies that align with organizational goals. Working alongside senior sourcing professionals, buyers, and project managers, this position drives high-value savings projects and fosters strong business relationships throughout the Health System. Following contract implementation, the Commodity Manager serves as the primary relationship manager for key suppliers, developing strategic account plans, conducting regular business reviews, and ensuring suppliers deliver value, efficiency, and exceptional service. This role requires strong analytical, negotiation, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills, with a focus on supporting operational excellence and improving outcomes for patients and the Health System.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Six (6) years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain, or category management
  • Broad knowledge of products, services, suppliers, and market trends within their assigned category
  • Experience in supplier management
  • Experience in contract negotiations
  • Experience in sourcing strategy development
  • Strong analytical skills
