About The Position

Radar is seeking a resourceful and results-oriented Commodity Manager to own and manage the strategic sourcing and supplier relationships for mission-critical components within our fast-paced tech startup environment. This role requires a self-starter who can work independently, manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, and collaborate effectively with engineering, production / operations, finance, and procurement teams to ensure a consistent, cost-effective, and high-quality supply chain. USA Remote would be considered for exceptional candidates with a monthly travel cadence as needed.

Requirements

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or a related field.
  • You have 4+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or commodity management, preferably within a high-tech or manufacturing environment.
  • You have exemplary communication skills - written, verbal, presentation.
  • You have strong negotiation and contract management skills with a proven track record of driving cost savings and developing constructive relationships with suppliers / CM partners.
  • You have advanced analytical skills and experience with data analysis to make informed decisions and solve ambiguous problems.
  • You have the ability to work independently and manage mission-critical projects with limited oversight, demonstrating a self-starter mindset.
  • You have excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills to influence across departments and with executive audiences.
  • You have familiarity with ERP systems and procurement software.
  • You have a deep understanding of the specific technical commodities being managed (e.g., silicon, mechanical parts, computer hardware).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and report on innovative sourcing strategies to secure a competitive advantage and ensure supply assurance for critical components - specifically the Radar RFID sensor components including semiconductors and mechanical parts, and the RFID system components including ethernet switch, controller (computer), and select system-related mechanical components.
  • Lead all commercial relationships with assigned commodity suppliers and involving contract manufacturer(s), including negotiating long-term agreements (LTAs), contracts, pricing, and terms to achieve overall best value.
  • Conduct extensive market analysis to identify trends, forecast potential risks (e.g., price volatility, supply disruptions), and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering and Operations to align sourcing strategies with product roadmaps and support new product introductions (NPI) from design to production launch.
  • Drive continuous supplier performance improvement through proactive management, establishing key performance indicators (KPIs), conducting regular business reviews, and addressing quality or delivery issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory & environmental requirements and internal company policies related to procurement and supply chain operations.
