SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Commodity Manager is a strategic leader responsible for driving global sourcing strategies that delivers measurable cost savings year-over-year. This role champions supply base optimization and complexity reduction, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives for quality, delivery, innovation, and sustainability. By leveraging market intelligence, data analytics, and cross-functional collaboration, the Commodity Manager will shape competitive advantage through world-class supplier partnerships and proactive risk management.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related discipline
  • At least 5 years experience in commodity management in iron/aluminum castings, metal fabrication, machining, electronics, and plastics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a cost-reduction project funnel, ensuring initiatives are prioritized, tracked, and executed to meet annual savings targets
  • Develop and execute commodity strategies that deliver a minimum of 3% year-over-year material cost savings.
  • Analyze market trends and geo-political factors to mitigate risk.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop a global network of “best-in-class” suppliers to ensure cost competitiveness, quality, innovation, and sustainability.
  • Apply 80/20 mindset to simplify the supply base and reduce complexity for assigned commodities.
  • Negotiates agreements with suppliers of assigned global commodities ensuring that the best total cost is realized.
  • Collaborates with engineering, operations and finance, to evaluate alternative. materials, processes, and technologies for cost optimization and innovation.
  • Manage and continuously improve global supplier performance using supply chain management tools, driving corrective actions and long-term improvements.
  • Monitor market dynamics and emerging risks to maintain supply continuity and competitive advantage.
