About The Position

The Commodity Manager Plastics supports the Sr. Global Commodity Manager in managing IMMI’s Thermoplastic Processing supply base, including related secondary processes. This role leads supplier relationship development to secure the best total cost, highest-quality products delivered on time to IMMI’s global manufacturing footprint. The Plastics Commodity Manager is responsible for cultivating strong, effective partnerships with suppliers to ensure IMMI procures materials that are safe, high-quality, and consistently delivered on time. This role collaborates closely with internal teams including Quality, PC&L, Engineering, Finance, Program Management, and Sales/Marketing to support company objectives and minimize internal conflicts.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree with emphasis in Purchasing, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management.
  • 10 plus years of purchasing or supply chain experience.
  • Experience with various thermoplastic molding processes (Injection Molding, Blow Molding, Vacuum Forming, Plastic Extrusion, Over Molding), tooling, plastic resins and compounding, plastic coatings (Hydro Transfer, Vapor Deposition, Painting).
  • Must possess highly developed negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Complex data analytical skills with demonstrated results.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP and Supplier Portal.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certification such as CPSM, CSCP, APICS/CPIM, or equivalent.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent process improvement expertise.
  • Experience with regional automotive operations and multi-site supplier management.
  • Familiarity with digital supply chain tools, data analytics, and Industry 4.0 technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute commodity strategies, ensuring company-wide alignment.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for thermoplastic processing and secondary operations.
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with key supplier personnel.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and supply agreements to achieve best total cost.
  • Initiate RFQs for new products or engineering VA/VE projects; award business according to established strategies.
  • Train and support suppliers on IMMI’s quality and delivery performance expectations.
  • Ensure uninterrupted supply and proactively prevent IMMI manufacturing line-down situations.
