About The Position

IEM is seeking a Commodity Manager with experience in electrical components for its Franklin, TN location. This role is responsible for developing and executing commodity strategies to meet IEM's manufacturing, supply chain, and operational objectives. The Commodity Manager will oversee assigned suppliers, including pricing, contracts, performance, and risk management, to ensure material availability, cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery. The ideal candidate will have expertise in electrical components and the ability to implement supplier and commodity actions independently, without constant Engineering involvement. This position reports to the VP of Supply Chain and requires 100% in-office presence in Franklin, TN.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in commodity management, strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain, or supplier management in a manufacturing environment.
Experience managing supplier negotiations, supplier performance, sourcing strategies, and cost reduction initiatives.
Strong understanding of manufacturing supply chains, supplier lead times, material planning, cost drivers, and production support.
Ability to make practical sourcing and supplier decisions within defined scope without relying on Engineering for every implementation detail.
Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Experience with electrical components, switchgear components, controls, relays, transformers, busway, copper, sheet metal, fabricated parts, or related power distribution materials.
Experience in electrical equipment, power distribution, switchgear, industrial manufacturing, or engineered-to-order manufacturing.
Experience with supplier development and localization.
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Excel, and supplier performance reporting tools.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute commodity strategies that support cost, quality, delivery, inventory, and business continuity goals.
Manage supplier relationships, including selection, negotiations, performance reviews, scorecards, corrective actions, and long-term supplier development.
Lead sourcing, cost reduction, supplier consolidation, dual sourcing, and supply risk mitigation initiatives.
Partner with Procurement, Planning, Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Finance to align supplier strategies with production needs.
Analyze supplier capacity, lead times, pricing, market trends, demand signals, and supply risks to support sourcing decisions.
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, minimum order quantities, stocking agreements, blanket orders, and long-term supply agreements.
Support supplier issue resolution related to defects, delivery delays, nonconformance, and recurring performance concerns.
Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, contract, and commodity data in applicable systems.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization.
