About The Position

The Commodity Buyer manages supplier relationships, pricing, and cost reduction initiatives for assigned automotive parts. This role evaluates supply bases, manufacturing processes, and supplier capabilities to identify the best value in cost, quality, and delivery performance.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of purchasing and supply chain principles, preferably in manufacturing or automotive environments.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel for analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with purchase order management and ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Ability to coordinate projects, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accurate data.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Previous supplier negotiation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a commodity portfolio of 8-10 suppliers with annual spend of $150M-$300M.
  • Analyze commodities, suppliers, manufacturing processes, and supply markets to support sourcing decisions.
  • Monitor industry trends, technology developments, and market pricing.
  • Lead supplier selection activities for new and existing vehicle models.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and global stakeholders on sourcing strategies and supplier selection.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Establish cost targets and negotiate supplier pricing to meet business objectives.
  • Drive annual cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Process supplier quotations and ensure accurate procurement records.
  • Maintain sourcing systems and support global sourcing activities.
  • Coordinate procurement-related activities for new model launches and commodity changes.
  • Utilize SAP, purchasing systems, and Excel to manage procurement activities, analyze data, and prepare reports.
