Job SummaryThe Commissioning Specialist performs advanced technical analysis and evaluation of electrical and mechanical systems in support of commissioning and retro-commissioning projects, as well as related regulatory audits governed by NFPA and NEC. This role is responsible for assessing whether building systems and equipment operate in accordance with engineering design intent, project specifications, and applicable regulatory standards. Through the interpretation of system performance data, engineering drawings, and field conditions, the Commissioning Specialist identifies deficiencies, determines root causes, and develops technically sound recommendations to support system optimization and compliance. Working collaboratively with commissioning engineers, contractors, vendors, and client stakeholders, the Commissioning Specialist applies specialized knowledge of building systems to synthesize technical findings into clear, actionable conclusions used to inform project outcomes and client decision-making. Field activities are conducted as part of a broader analytical process to gather and evaluate system performance information. This role requires advanced knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical building systems, the ability to apply engineering principles in evaluating complex system interactions, and the consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion. Success in this position depends on strong analytical capability, effective technical communication, and the ability to adapt methodologies to varied project conditions while supporting safe and efficient project execution.
