About The Position

The Commissioning Manager – Mobile Truck Mounted Gas Turbine Gensets owns the end-to-end planning, coordination, and safe execution of commissioning activities required to place truck mounted mobile generator sets into service at customer sites. This role drives field commissioning teams to ensure compliance with contract, safety, and regulatory requirements while achieving in service dates and complete handover documentation.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
  • Successfully passes all applicable general pre employment testing including but not limited to: background check, pre employment drug screening, pre employment fit tests, pre employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).
  • Driver’s License required. Employment is contingent upon meeting company driving standards, including an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy.
  • Daily in person, predictable attendance.
  • Proficiency in spoken English language.
  • 10+ years of commissioning/start up or field engineering experience with turbine gensets or mobile power deployments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required. An equivalent combination of education, specialized training, and relevant professional experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • Deep knowledge of generator fundamentals (AVR/governor, synchronization, load sharing) and temporary distribution systems.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-party field execution and direct reports under high pressure schedules.
  • Demonstrated experience in performance coaching and building field team capability.
  • Strong working knowledge of site safety and energized work controls (LOTO, permits, arc flash).

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical license/credential or recognized commissioning certification.
  • Experience with SCADA/telemetry for mobile fleet management.
  • Experience developing standard operating procedures, checklists, and training curricula.
  • Familiarity with emissions compliance and fuel quality management requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains the Commissioning Plan for each deployment, including scope, sequence, prerequisites, and acceptance criteria.
  • Builds commissioning schedules and look-ahead aligned to installation, fueling, cabling, and site readiness.
  • Defines and manages readiness gates from arrival and mechanical completion through load testing and handover.
  • Leads commissioning safety planning, including LOTO/isolation, start/stop controls, grounding/bonding verification, fuel handling, and exclusion zones.
  • Ensures permits, JSAs/JHAs, and switching/start authorizations are in place prior to start or load activities.
  • Exercises stop work authority and escalation for unsafe conditions or non-compliant practices.
  • Coordinates and witnesses' mechanical checks for fluids, leaks, cooling, exhaust routing, and stability.
  • Verifies electrical readiness, including cable sizing/termination, torque, phase rotation, insulation resistance/megger tests, and grounding.
  • Manages controls and protection verification for governor/AVR setup, frequency/voltage setpoints, load sharing, and E stop functionality.
  • Supervises operational tests, including step load response, frequency stability, power factor capability, and endurance run.
  • Coordinates OEM/vendor support and ensures configuration control for serial tracking, firmware, and settings baselines.
  • Leads and directs multi discipline field teams, setting daily expectations for task assignments and work packaging.
  • Provides on the job coaching and technical mentorship to field teams.
  • Manages team performance, providing feedback, recognition, and corrective action to maintain standards.
  • Maintains staffing plans, including coverage, rotations, shift handoffs, and fatigue management.
  • Leads onboarding for new team members regarding site rules, commissioning standards, and safety practices.
  • Maintains field discipline, including housekeeping, tool control, and professional conduct.
  • Serves as the primary field point of contact for commissioning with customers and utility providers.
  • Chairs commissioning readiness reviews and daily execution meetings.
  • Resolves conflicts and interface issues between trades, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Leads walkdowns and drives closure of commissioning punch lists.
  • Ensures corrective actions are verified, retested, and documented.
  • Delivers complete commissioning packages, including signed checklists, test reports, and as left configurations.
  • Coordinates O&M manuals, warranty start documentation, and training records for handover.
  • Issues customer handover certificates and readiness for service documentation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.
