About The Position

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Commissioning Manager. The Commissioning Manager is responsible for coordinating the job site installation and startup of equipment while working closely with Project Manager’s at CMCo and customer locations. This includes site inspections and reports, contractor interfaces, start-up of equipment and guiding CMCo technicians while on the site.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years experience in construction management
  • Previous experience managing the installation of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Thorough understanding of installation of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Ability to manage multiple start-up sites at one time
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and layout drawings
  • Ability to understand and respond to questions related to submittals and specifications
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work well with multiple disciplines such as project managers, contractors, engineers, and end users
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent driving record
  • Ability to travel and work hours as required to meet customer needs
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in mediation and negotiation

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating the job site installation and startup of equipment
  • Working closely with Project Managers at CMCo and customer locations
  • Conducting site inspections and reports
  • Managing contractor interfaces
  • Overseeing the start-up of equipment
  • Guiding CMCo technicians while on the site
  • Promoting a positive customer experience
