About The Position

Kent is looking for a Commissioning Manager to be based in Anchorage, Alaska. You will lead, execute, and coordinate commissioning planning and execution activities to ensure project success and operational readiness. This role requires collaboration with multiple disciplines and contractors to meet quality and safety standards. You are responsible to ensure that all commissioning activities of the project are completed on time and in compliance with the project requirements, procedures and plan.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification, with at least 15 years of commissioning management experience.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in oil & gas industry.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead a team and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience commissioning projects in extremely cold-weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with Visio or similar tools to communicate commissioning sequences, organizational charts, and workflow processes is an asset.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interface effectively with client, people inside and outside of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate personal HSSE leadership and excellent HSSE behaviours at all times, and ensure that safety expectations are managed, communicated and maintained.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPS, and similar processes to assure that consideration for a safe and successful Commissioning and Start-up is imbedded in the design.
  • Identify resource needs at key project phases and to develop Integrated Commissioning Team organization.
  • Apply Commissioning Lesson Learned from previous projects.
  • Management and development of the commissioning strategy, system completions plan, all commissioning procedures, check sheets, dynamic testing procedures and system completions database.
  • Apply strong commissioning expertise to plan and deliver commissioning activities across detailed design phases, including the development and review of system boundaries, completion strategies, key commissioning documentation, and multidisciplinary commissioning inputs in line with Kent and client project requirements.
  • Provide discipline technical support, oversight and advice on the Commissioning and Start-up of plant systems.
  • Support population and maintenance of the Systems Completion Database and Planning interface for Mechanical Completion and Commissioning progress tracking, reporting certification, and quality purposes.
  • Lead Commissioning discipline input during planning and execution phases acting as the interface point between project stakeholders such as vendors, engineering, operations, package management, and construction.
  • Development system completions budget inclusive of all commissioning planning, execution, support services, vendors, spares, temporary equipment etc.
  • Development of commissioning schedule risk analysis exercises and have ownership of the commissioning risk & mitigation register.
  • Manage creation and own the commissioning reporting structure inclusive of all aspects.
  • Develop a system and subsystem breakdown and the procedures for turnover from Construction to Commissioning.
  • Define commissioning systems in enough detail to support a Level 4 schedule, and coordinate with the client, project management, and project services to establish the reporting procedures and formats needed for both client and Kent management.
  • Provision of the necessary administrative systems and control procedures for commissioning execution and hand over.
  • Assure commissioning and equipment testing (FAT) being executed according to programs and specifications.
  • Act as commissioning representative in all matters regarding the implementation of commissioning requirements into the design.
  • Evaluate commissioning spares and maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure that the Commissioning Department is adequately staffed at all times.
  • Liaise and support Operations with respect to preparations for hand over and start up.
  • Create and own the commissioning milestones for the planning, fabrication, construction and commissioning & start-up phases.
  • Responsible for the safe execution of pre-commissioning and dynamic commissioning activities, assists in resolution of commissioning related issues to ensure satisfactory quality is attained.
  • Supervise the commissioning ensuring work is conducted in a safe and proper manner in accordance with the commissioning schedule.
  • Assist in the seamless transition of the facilities from Project to Operations.
  • Monitor job-site safety and compliance.
  • Subject matter expert and resource to the Project pertinent to Systems Completion activities.
  • In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization.
