We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commissioning Manager to join our construction team on the WAL6 project in Wallula, Washington. This role is responsible for leading the commissioning process from planning through final turnover, ensuring all building systems are installed, tested, and documented in accordance with project requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards. The Commissioning Manager will serve as a key interface among construction teams, subcontractors, design professionals, and the client, ensuring effective coordination, issue resolution, and successful project delivery. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented leader who takes ownership of complex commissioning scopes and drives results in the field. This individual is comfortable working hands-on at a job site, identifying issues early, and implementing practical solutions to maintain schedule and quality objectives. They will demonstrate strong communication skills, technical insight, and the ability to balance competing priorities while ensuring all systems are fully tested, documented, and prepared for client acceptance. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commissioning, construction management, MEP coordination, or related disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems, commissioning processes, testing procedures, and project closeout requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, schedule adherence, and documentation accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with commissioning and project management software tools.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • This is a site-based role, requiring full-time presence on the project site.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting industrial or large-scale construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of relevant U.S. building codes, commissioning standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NEBB), and Washington State regulations.
  • Professional certifications such as CxA, BCxP, PMP, LEED, or OSHA training (e.g., OSHA 30) are strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with international teams and diverse project environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all commissioning activities from pre-construction planning through project closeout and handover.
  • Coordinate commissioning for all major building systems, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, controls, and fire protection systems.
  • Verify system installation readiness and facilitate pre-functional and functional performance testing.
  • Collaborate closely with construction management, engineering, safety, QA/QC, and subcontractor teams to resolve technical and scheduling issues.
  • Track commissioning progress, identify risks, and provide regular, transparent reporting to project leadership.
  • Manage commissioning-related punch list items, deficiencies, and corrective actions to closure.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, U.S. codes and standards (including Washington State requirements), and client expectations.
  • Support system acceptance, documentation completion, and final project turnover.
