About The Position

Wood is recruiting for a Commissioning Lead to join its Commissioning Services business focusing on onshore major capital projects. This opportunity is onsite. The CSU Manager/ Lead will have full responsibility to direct and execute commissioning activities for greenfield/brownfield oil & gas upstream projects. Wood's Commissioning Services business works with leaders across renewables and emerging energy sectors.

Requirements

  • A degree in Engineering or relevant experience in Oil and Gas and mining. Equivalent industry certifications and experience will be considered
  • A detailed working knowledge of onshore gas processing facilities including power generation and distribution, control and safety systems, oil and gas separation, turbine-driven gas compression, rotating equipment, utility support, and lifesaving systems
  • Familiarity with construction and commissioning safety processes, including Permit To Work, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Company Safety Program, safety audits, commissioning strategies, and related procedures
  • 10+ years of oil and gas upstream/midstream/downstream, chemicals, LNG commissioning, start-up, and operations experience, particularly commissioning and start-up experience of large capital projects, multi-discipline leadership in CSU of facilities

Responsibilities

  • Prepare commissioning philosophy, schedule, and procedures during the project execution phase
  • Commission and start-up all systems, completing the commissioning work-scope in a logical and controlled sequence to project specifications
  • Oversee day-to-day commissioning activities, directing a team of commissioning engineers, technicians, operations personnel, other contractors, and vendor support personnel
  • Support system handover and acceptance from the construction team, including system discipline walk downs and punch list generation
  • Report to the Project Manager on issues regarding commissioning, start-up schedule, and progress
  • Interface with client management regarding commissioning and start-up
  • Ensure all commissioning resources are utilized cost-effectively
  • Define system priority handover list from construction to commissioning
  • Develop and assist in developing project manpower estimates and system commissioning schedules
  • Develop and maintain the commissioning budget
  • Review commissioning test equipment and material take-offs for onshore and offshore execution
  • Develop vendor call-out requirements and schedule for specialized vendor-supplied equipment and overall vendor coordination
  • Prepare systems for final inspection and hand over to the operations team after commissioning procedures are complete
  • Assist in evaluating and selecting commissioning team staff members, declaring and assigning roles and responsibilities
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested
