About The Position

The Commissioning Engineer supports the commissioning process on mission-critical projects, ensuring that building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and controls, are installed, tested, and operate in accordance with design intent, project specifications, and client requirements. This role provides hands-on experience and a strong foundation for a career in commissioning, with exposure to complex building systems and fast-paced construction environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in either electrical, Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience.
  • A minimum of one years of experience in commissioning mission critical facilities, MEP systems, or related industry.
  • Basic understanding of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with commissioning processes and industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, LEED) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and execution of commissioning plans, schedules, and procedures.
  • Participate in all commissioning-related meetings; document, prepare, and distribute meeting minutes to the project team.
  • Review submittals, shop drawings, and equipment documentation to ensure compliance with project and commissioning requirements.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with subcontractors, vendors, and third-party commissioning authorities.
  • Support scheduling and execution of equipment inspections, pre-functional testing, and system readiness activities.
  • Review and verify installation checklists for HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
  • Support energization and startup activities while ensuring strict adherence to NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and site safety protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with owner requirements, NEC, ASHRAE standards, and all applicable local codes and regulations.
  • Assist in coordinating vendor pre-startup and startup activities in collaboration with the Commissioning Manager (CxM).
  • Track, document, and manage commissioning issues, deficiencies, and corrective actions through to resolution.
  • Maintain accurate commissioning logs, reports, and documentation.
  • Support project teams in achieving key milestones, including substantial completion and final system acceptance.
