About The Position

A Commissioning Engineer collaborates with coworkers, customers, and suppliers to utilize the latest technologies while integrating equipment into distribution and production solutions and throughout the material handling industry. This involves understanding the customer’s goals and objectives to develop and support smart engineered solutions. The Commissioning Engineer is responsible for several phases of a project, frequently across several projects at once. These include device configuration and troubleshooting, HMI and PLC tagging from an I/O list, simulations, electrical installation and debug, programming debug, and post startup escalation support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related, and 1+ years of related experience
  • Initiative-taker
  • Hands-on learner
  • Electrical and Mechanical troubleshooting
  • Electrical and Mechanical hands-on aptitude, proficient with tools
  • AutoCAD exposure (AutoCAD Electrical preferred)
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office product suite
  • Retail or service skills in a customer facing role.
  • Effective problem solving
  • Position will be onsite in St Louis, so will need to consider candidates locally as no relocation assistance is available.
  • Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and debug PLC, robot, and HMIs per customer and Toyota Automated Logistics specifications and standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers in other departments or divisions to create simulation layouts for reach studies, cycle time estimates, and offline programming.
  • Create detailed AutoCAD drawings under the direction of Automation Engineers
  • Troubleshoot and modify electrical wiring, red line electrical schematics, update AutoCAD drawings to create As-Installed packages at project completion.
  • Effectively communicate schedules, plans, and training to personnel at end user facilities
  • Create and modify operator manuals, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Commission and document settings for system devices, including IP addresses, photo eye logic functions, and drive parameters.
  • Attend advanced training and become certified in applicable technologies, programs, and services.
  • Be a team member and contributor within the office, providing help outside of department scope when required.
  • Delivering projects that meet or exceed customer’s expectations, developing repeat customers.
