About The Position

The Connecticut General Assembly’s nonpartisan Commission on Racial Equity in Public Health seeks a full-time analyst. The analyst will report to the Executive Director of the Commission.

Requirements

  • Superior writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of social determinants and health and racial disparities in Connecticut and nationally
  • Ability to navigate and analyze data including but not limited to, using population-level and sample-level data from state and federal agencies, and external sources
  • Nonpartisanship
  • Sound judgment
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Willingness to work overtime during legislative sessions
  • Bachelor's degree in public health, public policy, sociology, economics, demography, or a related field required

  • Master's degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducting racial and ethnic disparate impact analyses on certain bills
  • Issuing racial and ethnic impact statements on those bills
  • Staffing Commission activities
  • Conducting data and policy analysis
  • Tracking bills within the legislative process, major policy issue areas and committee activities
  • Preparing written and verbal responses to inquiries from legislators, caucus staff, stakeholders, and partners
