About The Position

Shore United Bank is seeking a full-time Commercial Underwriter II to join our team. The Commercial Underwriter II will play a key role in evaluating and structuring commercial lending opportunities by underwriting loans of moderate complexity and supporting the broader credit analysis function. In this role, you’ll collaborate cross-functionally, analyze financial data to inform sound credit decisions, and help drive portfolio quality and growth. You’ll operate in a dynamic environment where attention to detail, responsiveness, and strong communication are essential, ensuring timely insights, well-documented analysis, and adherence to regulatory and internal policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent.
  • A B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field of study preferred, or a minimum of two-years related experience and specialized financial analysis training.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a credit underwriting or credit analyst role
  • Proficient ability to analyze and interpret financial statements and draw conclusions based on common-sized and trend analyses
  • Ability to spread and analyze business and personal tax returns
  • Ability to identify source of repayment and perform collateral analysis
  • Intermediate knowledge of current lending and loan review regulations and banking regulations, procedures, and operations

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and responds to opportunities to communicate affiliates products and services to promote the image of the affiliate and promote Shore Bancshares’ community of companies’ products and services to potential customers and referring those customers to the proper personnel.
  • Achieves goals assigned to the Commercial Underwriter as part of the assigned department's annual operating plan.
  • Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
  • Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
  • Communicates with management and staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities.
  • Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from other bank personnel, customers, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
  • Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.
  • Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.
