About The Position

The Oklahoma Team Leader directly supervises and provides strong leadership, motivation and direction to commercial lenders in Norman, Edmond and Midtown. The Team Leader is responsible for the acquisition, retention, evaluation, processing and servicing of the largest, most complex commercial business loans in the Bank’s loan portfolio. Utilizes the Bank’s available assets to maximize generation of revenues, profits, deposits and referral opportunities while mitigating risk. Must represent the Bank with pride while developing a strong market presence.

Requirements

  • 8-12+ years of progressive commercial lending experience with proven new-business development, portfolio management and complex deal structuring. Experience should demonstrate proven ability to understand and analyze financial statements and tax returns as well as make sound credit decisions.
  • 3-5+ years of direct leadership (team lead/manager) over commercial lenders and/or portfolio staff at a community or regional bank
  • Experience should demonstrate a detailed knowledge of bank operations, including Treasury Management, depository and loan products. Candidate also demonstrates track record in middle-market/small business across C&I and CRE; SBA 504 experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance-related field (Finance, Accounting, or Economics) required.
  • Must be able to work outside of normal business hours.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen attentively and intuitively, with high comprehension and effectively convey a response that promotes a positive impression.
  • Strong business development and interpersonal skills to market the bank and oneself, whether during or after business hours. This includes being able to identify banking opportunities, and if necessary, refer the client to other associates.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Must be able to work within a routine office environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree or professional credentials preferred (e.g. MBA, CRC, CFA, RMA).
  • SBA 504 experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of commercial lenders and support staff; provide ongoing feedback, conduct performance reviews, and build succession depth.
  • As a representative of the Bank, participates in community affairs and public relations initiatives aimed at improving the Bank’s visibility while enhancing new business opportunities. Takes leadership positions within the community and actively participates in civic, charitable and social organizations. This includes serving on boards and officer positions.
  • Leads weekly pipeline/portfolio huddles, remove obstacles, rebalances workloads and escalates issues promptly
  • Generates new commercial loans according to loan policy guidelines, the Bank’s risk tolerance and regulatory guidelines. Takes responsibility for implementation, execution, and achievement of sales team goals. Sets a leadership example by taking ownership and exceeding personal goals.
  • Proactively solicits new commercial business through the cultivation of key referral sources. Conducts 5-10 client and/or prospect visits per week.
  • Builds knowledge of all clients and prospects by compiling an in-depth profile of commercial business owners and other principals. Partners with Treasury Management, Payments and Wealth/Deposits to deepen relationships and improve the bank’s status and increase non-interest income
  • Reviews and analyzes commercial client financial documents to determine viability of future business and relationship expansion opportunities. Advises clients on and recommends appropriate loan products and services, discusses qualification requirements for each option, and establishes and negotiates the terms under which credit is approved or denied.
  • Provides a superior level of customer service while actively managing commercial banking relationships. Responds and resolves client inquiries, identifies new opportunities and maintains understanding of client’s complete financial objectives.
  • While working within established credit guidelines, exercises appropriate discretion in analyzing merits of specific credit and loan prospect requests. Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., ECOA/Reg B, Fair Lending, BSA/AML, UDAAP, Reg O/W, as applicable), supports successful internal and regulatory examinations, and maintains thorough knowledge of new and current regulatory requirements.
  • Monitors loan repayment activities and takes necessary action to collect delinquent accounts. Makes recommendations for personnel regarding employment, training, performance rating, salary changes, promotions, transfers, terminations, career enhancements and staffing. This includes actively participating in the recruitment and retention of team members.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Serves as a voting member of Senior Loan Committee.
