About The Position

Reliable Electric and Lighting is hiring a Commercial Service Electrician in the Milwaukee area. This is a full-time, year-round service position for an experienced electrician who is comfortable working independently, interacting with customers, troubleshooting electrical problems, and completing commercial service calls. The role involves traveling to commercial customer locations to diagnose and repair electrical and lighting issues, including troubleshooting and repair of commercial electrical systems and lighting, replacing components, circuit tracing, handling emergency and scheduled service calls, performing minor installations and upgrades, completing service documentation, and communicating findings directly to customers.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial electrical experience.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Understanding of commercial electrical systems.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Good communication and customer-service skills.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Dependable attendance and a professional attitude.
  • Ability to use a smartphone/tablet for work orders and communication.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial electrical experience preferred.
  • Experience servicing and repairing commercial electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of 120V, 208V, 240V, 277V and 480V electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot circuits, breakers, panels, lighting systems, controls, contactors, switches, receptacles and related electrical components.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Ability to safely use electrical testing equipment, including multimeters and other diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to work independently in the field with limited supervision.
  • Ability to identify electrical problems, determine an appropriate repair and communicate findings to the customer and Service Department.
  • Strong customer-service and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately complete electronic work orders and service documentation.
  • Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet for dispatching, work orders, photographs and communication.
  • Ability to safely operate a company service vehicle.
  • Must be dependable and able to maintain reliable attendance.
  • Ability to work from ladders and lifts and perform the physical requirements associated with commercial electrical service work.
  • Must follow company and customer safety requirements.
  • Must successfully complete Reliable Electric and Lighting's required pre-employment screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial service experience is strongly preferred.
  • Previous commercial service electrician experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting commercial lighting and lighting control systems.
  • Experience working independently from a service vehicle.
  • Journeyman-level electrical experience.
  • Experience interacting directly with commercial customers and facility managers.
  • Experience estimating material needs and identifying appropriate replacement components.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to commercial customer locations throughout the Milwaukee area to diagnose and repair electrical and lighting issues.
  • Perform commercial electrical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Troubleshoot lighting and lighting control systems.
  • Replace breakers, switches, receptacles, contactors, ballasts, drivers, and other electrical components.
  • Perform circuit tracing and diagnose electrical problems.
  • Respond to emergency and scheduled service calls.
  • Perform minor electrical installations and upgrades.
  • Complete service documentation and communicate findings.
  • Provide professional service directly to customers.
  • Work independently while having support from the Service Department.
