About The Position

Peninsula Co-op is hiring a Commercial Sales Manager – Petroleum for a permanent, full-time position within our Commercial Sales – Petroleum division based in Saanichton, BC. This role supports and oversees our commercial petroleum, cardlock, and home heating operations across Vancouver Island. Our ideal candidate is flexible, customer-focused, and enjoys balancing relationship-building, sales growth, and operational leadership in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in petroleum, fuel distribution, commercial sales, or a related industry.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience leading a team.
  • Strong financial and operational acumen with the ability to balance growth and profitability.
  • Experience managing budgets, margins, and operational performance metrics.
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, and related business software.
  • Ability to lead and support teams while building accountability and structure.
  • Comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Understanding of the importance of safety, compliance, and environmental responsibility.
  • Ability to analyze market trends, competitor activity, and operational performance to identify opportunities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Holds a valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.

Responsibilities

  • Driving profitable growth across cardlock, bulk fuel delivery, wholesale petroleum, and home heating channels.
  • Ensuring the efficient operation of three cardlock locations, including managing the teams and facilities at these sites.
  • Leading business development initiatives.
  • Strengthening customer relationships.
  • Overseeing operational performance to support long-term customer retention and margin growth.
  • Developing and executing sales strategies to grow the commercial petroleum, cardlock, and home heating business across Vancouver Island.
  • Building and actively managing a sales pipeline with a strong focus on new customer acquisition.
  • Maintaining and growing relationships with key commercial customers while identifying opportunities for expansion.
  • Monitoring KPIs including sales volume, margins, customer retention, and operational efficiency.
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, inventory management, and financial planning for the commercial division.
