About The Position

We are seeking a Commercial Roofing Superintendent to oversee the planning, implementation, and tracking of commercial roof project installation from beginning to end. This role involves coordinating closely with all parties involved and providing frequent updates. Nations Roof is one of the largest commercial roofing contractors, ranked among the Top Roofing Contractors in the US. Our projects range in scope from large-scale new construction to complete tear-offs, re-roofing, and renovations of existing building exteriors, as well as ongoing roof maintenance, inspection, and repairs of all major commercial roof systems.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years commercial roofing experience working directly for a Commercial Roofing Contractor.
  • 2-5 years experience in a dedicated role managing roofing foremen (and roofing crews) and/or roofing subcontractors.
  • Experience with roof installation of large retail facilities.
  • Experience with a wide range of commercial roofing systems and roofing manufacturers (Must have prior experience with EPDM and TPO).
  • Read and understand specifications and blueprints.
  • Basic computer skills - Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Willing to be trained and use company software.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Bluebeam and/or construction project management experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to foremen, fostering safety, teamwork, and discipline, resulting in efficient and professional roof system installation.
  • Consistently provide high-quality service and results.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with customers, personnel, and the public.
  • Effectively manage all aspects of production to meet company and project goals.
  • Supervise foremen to lead safe and efficient roof system installations.
  • Oversee field staff and/or sub-contractor(s), assisting with crew leadership, as required.
  • Conduct or participate in safety audits and ensure subcontractor compliance with NR expectations, including all safety requirements and weekly toolbox talks, inspection reports for equipment such as stair towers, forklifts, etc.
  • Resolve complaints and grievances; assist with discipline when necessary.
  • Ensure production and quality goals, being accountable for the performance and quality of work and maintaining records of efforts to do so, including recording of such efforts by photographs and reporting tools such as a periodic probing plan and other tools which may be created to help maintain record and ensure proper oversight.
  • Maintain understanding of contract information for jobs.
  • Track labor hours and production against stated goals, which may require getting pictures showing a subcontractor is recording time properly.
  • Schedule materials, equipment, and deliveries, paying special attention to using inventoried materials.
  • Monitor material usage, minimize waste, anticipate shortages, and order materials as needed.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and manage subcontractors.
  • Monitor quality of installations, including destructive testing such as cutting into hand welds, to ensure proper installation techniques and results and to make sure the crew is adequately trained. Identify personnel who may need more training and communicate this to the foreman as needed. Outside resources can be brought in to provide additional training (mobile manufacturer training personnel).
  • Engage with customers to answer questions and provide explanations.
  • Schedule daily or weekly contact with customers to review progress.
  • Discuss any outstanding issues with customers and other parties.
  • Meet with customers to verify satisfaction with work and billing; deliver warranties.
  • Review plans and sites, delegate crews, and do all pre-job planning, including but not limited to creating site-specific safety plans and work plan efficiencies.
  • Ensure crews have information and instructions necessary to complete jobs. If information is missing or lacking, notify Operations Manager and Senior Project Manager as soon as it is identified.
  • Submit reports and paperwork on time and otherwise coordinate communication between office and job sites, including thorough, timely Daily Project Reports and other reports needed by others for their responsibilities. If providing daily reporting is not possible for some reason, notify Operations Manager in advance with an explanation.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, accidents, and thefts, and provide relevant documents, photos, and assessments to the office.
  • Deliver all documentation to the office in a timely manner. Reporting required daily should be done daily, and not accumulated. This includes job reports such as DPR’s, expense reports, and information needed by the Safety Manager or safety team.
  • Review final paperwork to ensure change orders are reflected and billed.
  • Participate in manufacturer final inspection.
  • Participate in regular review meetings with project managers.

  • Assist Project Managers in the preparation, review, and administration of contractual proposals, contracts, and purchase orders relating to construction projects.
  • Work closely with permit expediters, project managers, design teams, and consultants to monitor and expedite the development process.
  • Maintain relationships between the organization and outside consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the project management/development tracking tool, Salesforce, and other business tools as needed.
  • Track and maintain Salesforce software for project information and updates in a timely manner.
  • Receive, organize, and maintain all construction documents.
  • Perform site take-offs and communicate information to Estimating in a timely, clear, and accurate manner. When take-off information cannot be relayed to Estimating by the day following the site visit, communicate this via email to Estimating the day of the take-off along with why it is not possible.
  • Travel in the greater New England area will be required as needed.
