About The Position

Sterling Commercial Roofing, a Tecta America company, is seeking a Commercial Roofing Project Superintendent for their Sterling IL office. The Project Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site commercial roofing operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role serves as the primary field leader, coordinating crews, subcontractors, materials, and equipment while maintaining strong communication with project managers, clients, and vendors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 8-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and general public.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must not be afraid of heights and must be able to position extension ladder to access roof for roof inspection/survey.
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all phases of commercial roofing projects from mobilization to completion
  • Ensure work is performed according to plans, specifications, and company standards
  • Monitor job progress and adjust schedules or resources as needed to meet deadlines
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality and compliance
  • Manage field crews, foremen, and subcontractors
  • Provide direction, training, and support to field employees
  • Enforce productivity expectations and accountability
  • Foster a positive, safety-first work environment
  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and job hazard analysis
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe work practices
  • Investigate and document incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions
  • Coordinate daily and weekly work schedules
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to align field operations with project timelines
  • Coordinate deliveries of materials, equipment, and labor resources
  • Maintain site logistics and workflow efficiency
  • Ensure roofing systems are installed per manufacturer specifications and warranties
  • Identify and resolve installation issues proactively
  • Conduct final inspections and punch list completion
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients and inspectors
  • Maintain professional communication with customers, vendors, and internal teams
  • Addressing customer concerns promptly and professionally
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, including labor, materials, and progress updates
  • Track changes, delays, and field issues
  • Assist with documentation for billing, change orders, and project closeout
