About The Position

As a Commercial Risk Analyst, you’re the trusted voice in the room when decisions carry real weight. You live at the intersection of risk and opportunity — analyzing complex credit structures, assessing multifamily real estate transactions, and ensuring every deal balances sound judgment with strategic growth. You don’t just review deals — you challenge assumptions, uncover insights, and strengthen outcomes. Whether you’re underwriting new transactions, monitoring portfolio performance, or navigating CMHC requirements, you bring clarity, structure, and confidence to every step of the process. Working closely with internal teams, brokers, and external partners, you play a critical role in delivering high-quality lending decisions — from origination through funding, insurance placement, and securitization.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, Commerce, Economics, or a related field
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in commercial lending, credit adjudication, or real estate finance
  • Demonstrated experience underwriting multifamily residential transactions
  • Strong understanding of CMHC-insured lending programs and securitization processes
  • Advanced financial analysis and modelling capabilities
  • Ability to evaluate complex credit structures and risk scenarios with confidence

Nice To Haves

  • Professional designations (CFA, CPA, AACI, or similar) are considered an asset
  • Experience with AI‑powered tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, and similar platforms is a real plus - especially when it’s used to work smarter, increase efficiency, and find better ways to get things done.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the underwriting and adjudication of multifamily mortgage applications, analyzing borrower strength, property performance, and market conditions
  • Develop credit recommendations and approval packages that support informed decision-making
  • Monitor and manage a multifamily mortgage portfolio, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Track portfolio performance, risk exposures, and key indicators to support ongoing oversight
  • Act as a key liaison with CMHC, ensuring compliance with insured lending and securitization requirements
  • Collaborate with Finance, Treasury, Legal, Compliance, and Operations to execute transactions effectively
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance underwriting quality, efficiency, and overall client experience
