About The Position

U.S. Bank is seeking a seasoned Senior Banker to join its Commercial Real Estate (CRE) team in Chicago. The ideal Relationship Manager will have a strong background in business development within the commercial real estate sector and the capability to manage, grow, and optimize a substantial and complex loan portfolio. This role is crucial for driving revenue growth through active new business prospecting and the retention and expansion of existing client relationships. The Relationship Manager will cultivate trusted partnerships with various entities in the real estate market, including funds, developers, investors, high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and institutional capital providers, by offering customized financial solutions aligned with their long-term goals. The position involves originating significant and intricate commercial real estate transactions such as term loans, construction loans, bridge loans, sublines, and lines of credit, while ensuring the overall credit quality of the portfolio. This requires strong credit judgment, proactive risk management, and strict adherence to bank policies and regulatory standards. Additionally, the Relationship Manager will provide expert advice on a wide array of commercial banking products and ancillary services, identify cross-selling opportunities, and make appropriate referrals to internal specialists. Serving as a brand ambassador for U.S. Bank, the role includes representing the organization in the local market, fostering relationships with real estate professionals, and enhancing the Bank’s visibility through industry engagement and events. Success hinges on effective collaboration with product teams to deliver comprehensive, client-focused solutions and to support the ongoing expansion of the CRE platform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, accounting or other related field
  • Five or more years of commercial real estate experience
  • Two or more years of management experience

  • Advanced knowledge and experience in commercial real estate loan origination and portfolio management.
  • Understanding of commercial real estate credit and underwriting.
  • Proven business development and strategic management skills.
  • Chicago CRE market knowledge and originations and business development experience.
  • Experience with driving successful internal partnerships with deposit/treasury management and payment solutions, syndications, derivatives, wealth management, etc.
