About The Position

The Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Relationship Manager is responsible for maximizing share of wallet and product penetration by focusing on loan generation, deposit gathering, and cross-selling other Bank Services to clients. This role acts as the primary point of contact and transaction coordinator from the initial sourcing of a relationship through to the closing of a transaction. The position requires a deep understanding of credit underwriting for various real estate secured credits, active community involvement, and the ability to manage cross-company partnerships. The Relationship Manager will also be responsible for structuring and negotiating complex CRE loan terms, maintaining a high-quality loan portfolio, and presenting to senior management. Additionally, the role involves coaching junior relationship managers and identifying/mitigating credit risks while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • MBA or MS in CRE Investment/Finance required.
  • NMLS registered or willing to register in NMLS prior to employment offer.
  • Successfully pass FBI Criminal Background and credit check before job offer.
  • 5 years of previous experience in business development, credit portfolio managing and analysis, and structuring of CRE credit transactions in the assigned local market.
  • Formal credit training required.
  • Excellent knowledge of local Real Estate industry.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for loan production, deposit gathering, and other cross-sell goals.
  • Engage with customers regularly to identify their financial needs and offer relevant banking products.
  • Generate and develop new business relationships through networking, cultivating referral sources, and COIs.
  • Maintain, nurture, and deepen existing client relationships.
  • Possess an expert understanding of credit underwriting fundamentals as it relates to RE secured credits of all types (Land Acquisition, Construction, Transitional/Bridge, and Permanent Financing).
  • Maintain a strong presence in the local community through active involvement and leadership roles in professional organizations and events.
  • Manage cross-company partnerships and alliances designed to acquire and drive business opportunities.
  • Structure and negotiate complex CRE loan term sheets and loan documents in partnership with counsel.
  • Maintain and ensure a high-quality loan portfolio by supporting underwriting and portfolio management teams through monitoring loan policy exceptions, ongoing credit review, loan covenant compliance, and site inspections.
  • Effect desired results when dealing with different areas and departments of the Bank.
  • Make regular presentations to Loan Committee and other Senior Managers, demonstrating high-level effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Review the contents of appraisals, appraisal reviews, cost analyses, and environmental reports to ensure compliance with approved terms, Bank policy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coach and mentor junior relationship managers in the team.
  • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of complex SWAPs and other Hedging instruments.
  • Possess a capital market perspective and proven ability to sell loan participations and syndicated loans.
  • Identify credit risks associated with a transaction, recommend and follow up with a plan of action to improve/resolve identified problems and avoid potential losses to the Bank.
  • Ensure preventive measures are carried out to fully comply with current rules, regulations, and internal policies relating to risks pertaining to BSA, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, and other AML related issues.
  • Identify, evaluate, monitor, and make recommendations to the Risk Management Committee to assess, reduce, eliminate, or control any current or prospective risks to earnings or capital arising from violations of, or nonconformance with, laws, rules, regulations, prescribed practices, internal policies and procedures, or ethical standards.
