Commercial Portfolio Manager
About The Position
As a Commercial Portfolio Manager, you will utilize your experience and working knowledge of managing clients through the various stages of the lending process to support the portfolio growth of assigned Relationship Manager(s). The Commercial Portfolio Manager will maintain up-to-date knowledge of bank products, credit policy, and regulatory guidelines in order to underwrite, structure and prepare approvals for loan products. In this role, you are responsible for the day-to-day client interaction to include onboarding, maintenance and monitoring of assigned portfolios to ensure asset quality and customer service standards are met while adhering to standards and policies set forth by the bank and applicable regulatory agencies. This role is highly visible in the Bank and requires a high level of professionalism and self-awareness.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Five years of qualifying related Commercial Banking experience and/or training required
- Possess Commercial Credit skills including financial statement analysis, cash flow, and loan structuring
- Ability to identify potential loan risks and appropriate mitigating factors to those risks
- Possess a working knowledge of legal entity structures and interrelationships
- Possess an in-depth knowledge of loan documents for all commercial and business loan types
- Possess excellent analytical capability and detail orientation
- Ability to maintain a professional image at all times
- Fluent with Microsoft Excel
- Ability to be service-oriented to both internal and external customers
- Possess and regularly display a positive attitude
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Possess initiative while being self-driven and results-oriented
Nice To Haves
- Experience as a Commercial Portfolio Manager or Commercial Relationship Manager preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year, post-secondary institution preferred
Responsibilities
- Serve as a key liaison between Market Presidents, Commercial Relationship Managers (RMs), Relationship Manager Assistants, Real Estate Services, Centralized Loan Documentation, outside attorneys, and other internal/external parties
- Participate in joint customer and prospect calls with RMs to gain a comprehensive understanding of the business in order to assist in or lead the addition of new business, annual reviews, renewals, and ongoing servicing
- Underwrite, structure, and prepare approvals for commercial & business loan products within bank guidelines
- Maintain a working knowledge of lending regulations and the Bank’s loan policy and procedures to facilitate the underwriting of commercial & business loans
- Be responsible for supporting the continuous growth and servicing of the loan, deposit, and Cash Management portfolio
- Assist the team with the collection and monitoring of loan exceptions, servicing requirements, and loan covenants
- Verify that any covenant agreements are up-to-date and satisfied
- Order property inspections as needed, monitor construction compliance, and complete draw requests on applicable loan products
- Assure portfolio conforms to asset quality standards, regulations, and policy guidelines
- Maintain a strong knowledge of all Bank products and services
- Maintain compliance with regulations and bank policies and procedures, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements
- Consistently support, uphold and model the organization’s core values and standards
- Complete other duties as assigned as determined by management to be reasonable and beneficial
