About The Position
The University of Washington Medical Center - Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for a Commercial Plumber to join its maintenance organization. This is a Full-Time, 100% FTE position, Monday-Friday, Days (6:55 AM – 3:25 PM) with no telework. This role involves performing skilled work on commercial building systems such as alteration of plumbing, steam, pipefitting and specialty piping systems, with opportunities to work in a variety of settings within the hospital, research facilities, morgues, laboratories, commercial kitchens and patient care areas.
Requirements
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a plumber/pipefitter/steamfitter, OR full journey status as a plumber/pipefitter/steamfitter in a union, OR four years’ applicable work experience.
- Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license may be required.
- Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
Responsibilities
- Respond to daily hospital customer orders for things such as, but not limited to, clogs, leaks, dripping faucets, steam radiators not working, etc.
- Install, remove and repair all categories of plumbing fixtures.
- Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain potable water, waste, vent, and process piping systems.
- Repair and maintain piping, tanks, pumps, pressure vessels, and associated systems.
- Install, service and adjust pumps, ejectors, valves, coils, and heat exchangers.
- Follow proper procedures for working on medical gas piping, testing, alarm systems, and leak detection.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot piping, traps, regulators, strainers, and condensate systems.
