About The Position

Performs skilled interior and exterior painting, coating, and finishing work on projects. Reads and interprets blueprints, finish schedules, and specifications; prepares and repairs substrates and applies a range of coating systems. Communicates professionally with supervisors and other trades; and supports field operations in accordance with Company standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of journeyman‑level (or equivalent lead painter) commercial painting experience.
  • Demonstrated competency in surface preparation, coating application, color matching, and finish quality standards.
  • Understanding of fall protection systems and safe work at heights.
  • Physical demands may include lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling over 50 lbs with assistance of another team member or equipment
  • Ability to work safely in varying weather conditions and enforce safety practices consistently.
  • Must have reliable transportation to access multiple jobsite locations; travel requirements may vary by project.
  • Strong communication skills: receive direction, ask clarifying questions, coordinate with supervisors and other trades, and document issues professionally.
  • Basic proficiency with mobile devices and collaboration tools; ability to learn Company timekeeping and basic reporting software.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and willingness to develop trade skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare interior and exterior surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding, caulking, patching to achieve specified finish standards.
  • Select appropriate paints, coatings, sealants, and materials based on project specifications and performance requirements.
  • Mix, tint, and color‑match coatings; apply with brushes, rollers, and spray equipment (e.g., airless, HVLP) in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
  • Mask and protect adjacent finishes, furnishings, and equipment; maintain a clean, organized work area; clean and maintain painting tools and spray equipment.
  • Assess visible coating failures and recommend corrective actions to supervision; verify curing times and finish quality meet project standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, finish schedules, specifications, and work orders to determine scope, sequence, and material needs.
  • Identify conflicts or differing conditions in the field and communicate them promptly to the Foreman/Superintendent; support RFI preparation as directed.
  • Coordinate daily work areas with site supervision and other trades; communicate clearly, ask clarifying questions, and close the loop on assignments.
  • Maintain expected daily production pace and notify supervision early when constraints impact progress; perform work in occupied facilities as required with professional conduct.
  • May supervise small crews or mentor apprentices as assigned.
  • Document basic field conditions and material usage as directed; submit accurate daily time using assigned company timekeeping systems.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Follow OSHA and Company safety practices; erect and work safely from ladders, scaffolds, and aerial lifts; use required fall protection.
