Commercial Operations Specialist

The DispatchWashington, DC

About The Position

The Dispatch is hiring a Commercial Operations Specialist to own the execution of its commercial partnerships. This role is responsible for campaign setup, creative and script workflow, delivery, reporting, and day-to-day partner servicing. The commercial portfolio includes newsletter sponsorships, podcast advertising, SCOTUSblog, and events. The ideal candidate is well-organized, has a bias toward action, and finds satisfaction in a well-built system where nothing slips through the cracks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • One or two years in operations, campaign management, account coordination, project management, or a comparable detail-heavy role—ideally at a small or fast-moving organization.
  • Genuine comfort with detail work. A meaningful share of this job is precise, repetitive, and behind the scenes—and all of it is mission-critical.
  • The ability to hold many deadlines at once without dropping any of them, and to reset priorities when they shift.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented approach. You’ll work closely with our team, but you’ll be trusted to run your book without close supervision.
  • Fluency with spreadsheets, and the ability to pick up new platforms quickly and on your own.
  • A client-focused instinct. Partners should come away feeling well served, and come back because of it.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with podcast advertising, digital advertising, or event sponsorship
  • Hands-on experience with ad-serving, podcast-hosting, or campaign-management platforms

Responsibilities

  • Own the tracking systems that serve as the source of truth for active and upcoming campaigns.
  • Maintain a live view of available inventory across platforms and flag conflicts early.
  • Configure, launch, and quality-check campaigns in advertising platforms.
  • Monitor delivery, coordinating adjustments with internal teams and vendor partners.
  • Turn partner talking points into clean, on-brand advertising copy, and manage it through review and approval.
  • Review creative before it goes live for accuracy and brand-safety standards.
  • Serve as the coordination point between partners, the internal team, and outside vendors.
  • Monitor and evaluate partnership performance, providing regular insight and reporting to partners.
  • Work with the finance team to reconcile campaign delivery against contracted commitments and prepare billing reports.
  • Build post-campaign reporting that supports renewal conversations.
  • Act as the primary contact for a defined book of partners, holding a high standard of service across the full partnership lifecycle: assets, timelines, logistics, approvals, scheduling, and wrap materials.
  • Manage product and talent logistics for endorsement-based campaigns.
  • Own and improve the processes, trackers, and tooling that keep all of the above running.

  • Health insurance
  • 401(k) match
