About The Position

We’re growing fast in Western Australia, and Babcock is looking for a Commercial Officer who’s ready to take the next step in their career. As our Commercial Officer, you’ll work closely with senior leaders and the wider commercial team to strengthen commercial operations across our WA programs. You’ll help ensure our strategic and day‑to‑day activities are commercially sound, support contract and governance requirements, and play a key role in managing documentation, performance measures and contract deliverables. You’ll also gain hands‑on experience with, contract reviews, variations, risk monitoring and stakeholder engagement. This role is ideal for someone proactive, detail‑focused and eager to build strong commercial capability in a supportive environment. You’ll be contributing to meaningful Defence programs, developing your commercial skill set, and building relationships across internal teams, customers and external partners. Requirements

  • Australian Citizen with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Business, Commerce, Law, Finance or equivalent working experience.
  • Relevant experience in ASDEFCON contracts, subcontracts, procurement, supply chain, finance or program/project management, preferably in a Defence context and/or large corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written communications, applying creativity, strong attention to detail, and accuracy to deliver complex business outcomes.
  • Solid understanding of legal principles and how they apply within a commercial or contractual environment.
  • Proven capability to manage workload independently, balance competing priorities, perform effectively under pressure, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information with a high level of discretion and professionalism.
