About The Position

At General Produce, delivering freshness is more than a promise — it’s our daily standard. From our state‑of‑the‑art Sacramento facility, we serve Northern & Central California, Western Nevada and Southern Oregon, and even export to the Pacific Rim and Asia. As a Commercial Night Driver, you’ll play a key role in keeping our operation moving while the city sleeps. This position is designed for a driver who resides in the Redding area and will begin each shift in Redding, travel to our Sacramento facility to pick up a load, and then return to Redding to complete the route. The role focuses primarily on a transfer route between facilities with little to no customer deliveries, offering steady miles and a consistent routine. Enjoy the stability of a full-time position with consecutive days off, all while helping ensure fresh, high-quality produce is ready for distribution to restaurants, schools, and communities by morning.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid California Class A Commercial Driver License with air brake endorsement and no interstate restrictions.
  • Must have a driving record that meets company and DOT standards (i.e. no DUIs, etc.).
  • At least 1 year of commercial driving experience required.
  • Able to read maps, follow routes, and make timely deliveries.
  • Comfortable using smartphones or delivery apps for routing and communication.
  • Basic English reading, writing, and speaking skills.
  • Regularly lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Sit for long periods of time, while driving, stoop, stand, kneel, crouch, push and pull.
  • Possess vision abilities to include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to hear.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience travelling in snow/using chains preferred.
  • Prior work in produce/food distribution is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Transfer product from Redding yard to our Sacramento facility & make a few deliveries on the way back.
  • Check, verify, and record delivery information and maintain accurate sales records.
  • Safely load and unload trucks, ensuring products are handled and stored properly.
  • Coordinate with office staff to resolve delivery or service issues promptly.
  • Collect returns, empty containers, or unsold items as needed.
  • Clean truck interiors, perform routine inspections, and complete minor maintenance tasks to ensure safe operation.
