About The Position

The Commercial Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies, managing commercial operations, leading the sales team, and driving business development across West Africa. This role requires strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills, with a proven track record in sales and commercial management. The ideal candidate will have experience in the Steel & Iron or Pharmaceutical industries and fluency in French.

Requirements

  • Fluency in French (spoken and written).
  • Proven experience in the Steel & Iron Industry and/or Pharmaceutical Industry.
  • Strong knowledge of sales, commercial operations, distribution management, and business development.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.

  • Previous work experience in West Africa will be a significant advantage.
  • Experience in managing regional sales teams and distributor networks.
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and drive market expansion.
  • Identify new business opportunities, emerging markets, and distribution channels across West Africa.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, distributors, and business partners.
  • Develop and execute pricing strategies aligned with market conditions and company objectives.
  • Negotiate contracts, commercial agreements, and business terms with customers and partners.
  • Monitor profitability, margins, and cost structures to ensure sustainable business growth.
  • Manage tendering processes and large-scale commercial transactions.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage the regional sales team to achieve business targets.
  • Establish sales KPIs, monitor performance, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Ensure effective sales forecasting, pipeline management, and performance reporting.
  • Conduct regular training and development programs to enhance team capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key accounts and strategic customers.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, retention, and loyalty.
  • Resolve customer concerns, complaints, and service-related issues promptly and effectively.
  • Develop and strengthen distribution networks across multiple countries in West Africa.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable distributors, agents, and channel partners.
  • Ensure product availability and effective market penetration in targeted territories.
  • Prepare and manage sales budgets, forecasts, and commercial reports.
  • Track sales performance, revenue growth, profitability, and other key business metrics.
  • Provide regular business updates, market intelligence, and strategic recommendations to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws, trade regulations, and company policies.
  • Identify potential commercial risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Promote and maintain ethical business practices across all operations.
