About The Position

The Commercial Manager–Intermediate Chemicals is responsible for commercial execution and account management across the Intermediate Chemicals upstream portfolio, including ethylene glycols and ethylene cracker by-products. The role combines profitability analysis, budgeting, forecasting, market intelligence, customer management, sales execution, pricing strategy, trading and export execution, and cross-functional coordination. This position manages customer relationships, contract discussions, customer planning, product placement, and commercial follow-up with captive users, export customers, traders, distributors, and strategic accounts. This position reports to the IC Commercial Director and works closely with sales, supply chain, operations, logistics, finance, technology, application teams, and senior business leadership. This position is also part of a broader succession planning exercise intended to identify, develop, train, and promote talent from within. Successful candidates should demonstrate upward mobility potential, sound managerial instincts, an interest in leading and supporting people, ability to stay calm and collected under pressure and preferably have some prior people-management or team-leadership experience. The role requires a strong commitment to continuous learning, personal development, and broader business exposure. Future growth and promotion opportunities may require geographic flexibility, including relocation, as well as openness to career opportunities in other divisions within Indorama Ventures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related technical field; advanced commercial, technical, or business education is a plus.
  • 5–7 years of experience in sales, trading, product management, marketing, business management, or account management in petrochemicals industry.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Salesforce preferred.
  • Experience with the C2 value chain, ethylene, ethylene glycols, or related petrochemical products preferred.
  • Experience negotiating commercial agreements, pricing structures, and customer contracts.
  • Experience with export business, logistics coordination, terminal operations, and international customers preferred.
  • Existing relationships with customers, traders, distributors, or major participants in the ethylene glycol markets are highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of petrochemical value chains, market economics, and profitability drivers.
  • Strong understanding of chemical industry value chains, customer applications, pricing mechanisms, logistics considerations, and market drivers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage key accounts, negotiate commercial agreements, and build durable customer relationships.
  • Deep understanding of multilayer and team-based selling.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, operations, supply chain, logistics, finance, and leadership teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, commercial judgment, communication capability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Under the guidance of the IC Commercial Director, negotiate and execute trades, exports, and supply agreements for ethylene glycols, ethylene cracker by-products, and other assigned products within approved volume and price target ranges.
  • Create new opportunities with trading and export partners across the assigned product portfolio.
  • Support profitability and commercial performance of assigned products and customer portfolios.
  • Develop and execute annual budgets, sales forecasts, pricing assumptions, volume projections, and commercial performance metrics.
  • Provide monthly demand forecasts, commercial outlooks, financial review input, and business performance reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability, product placement, netbacks, working capital, and overall commercial returns.
  • Maintain close domestic and international market relationships and provide regular market updates to commercial and senior leadership.
  • Represent Indorama Ventures Intermediate Chemicals at conferences, customer meetings, and market forums.
  • Manage sales activities for assigned products across captive users, export customers, distributors, traders, and strategic accounts.
  • Drive commercial execution through pricing strategy, contract administration, market positioning, product allocation, and channel optimization.
  • Lead or support contract negotiations, pricing discussions, customer agreements, credit coordination, dispute resolution, spot sales, and trading activities.
  • Represent the voice of the customer within Indorama Ventures.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, traders, co-producers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Conduct account planning, customer reviews, business development activities, and opportunity assessments.
  • Manage customer expectations, resolve commercial issues, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts and develop new commercial opportunities.
  • Continuously monitor ethylene glycol and ethylene cracker by-product markets.
  • Evaluate pricing trends, supply-demand fundamentals, competitor activity, trade flows, and emerging market opportunities.
  • Develop market intelligence reports and recommendations for business leadership.
  • Provide strategic guidance on commercial decisions that support margin enhancement and long-term growth.
  • Utilize market insights to inform pricing strategies, sales plans, and customer engagement activities.
  • Collaborate with operations, supply chain, logistics, procurement, finance, and manufacturing teams to support efficient product movement and customer fulfillment.
  • Participate in production planning discussions to align market demand, product availability, and customer commitments.
  • Coordinate export sales execution, logistics requirements, terminal operations, marine movements, and trade documentation with responsible IVL functions.
  • Assist in evaluating supply opportunities, purchases, exchanges, tolling arrangements, and inventory optimization initiatives.
  • Support business continuity and rapid response to changing market or operational conditions.
