About The Position

Responsible for evaluating business loan applications for completeness, analyzing financial statements and other relevant information to determine the feasibility of extending credit to a prospective borrower and preparing credit presentations for appropriate approval in accordance with the credit union’s commercial loan policy, guidelines and procedures. Assist with the review and maintenance of the portfolio (i.e. expiring lines/ loans, annual loan reviews, risk grading issues) to help ensure the overall integrity of the business loan portfolio.

Requirements

  • One to three years of commercial credit underwriting experience.
  • Business bachelor's degree preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide underwriting support for the Commercial Loan Department on various types of business lines/ loans (including but not limited to) commercial & industrial loans and commercial real estate loans, including but not limited to accurately preparing and analyzing financial spreads based on the borrower/ guarantor financial information (i.e. tax returns, financial statements); investigating trends to determine “why” something happened and provides specific evidence; and investigating any mitigating factors that could offset a downward trend (or other concerning situations), as well as prepare the Credit Request Authorization in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Process scored business loans using Abrigo’s loan decisioning tool.
  • Underwrite Annual Loan Reviews for required commercial loans.
  • Assist in portfolio management, especially with regard to ticklers, including but not limited to generating tickler emails to Borrowers, properly filing tickler items that are received and satisfying tickler compliance.
  • Accompany Loan Officer on joint calls to participate in loan structuring and to ascertain financial condition of the company being analyzed.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for loans and presents at credit vetting sessions.
  • Review and/ or assist in the preparation of departmental business loan reports as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
