About The Position

Responsible for managing an assigned commercial loan portfolio and performing duties to meet the commercial services needs of business customers; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the commercial banking function; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries or requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports. This role involves managing the assigned commercial loan portfolio through administration duties, verifying and reviewing financial statements, tax returns, and other related financial information. It also includes preparing financial statement spreadsheets, analyzing corporate and personal financial statements, and reviewing credit reports, leases, appraisals, and property reports for loan renewals, extensions, and annual credit reviews. The position evaluates business industry, manages issues, analyzes trends, and assesses overall credit risk, identifying relationship strengths and weaknesses. The Commercial Loan Portfolio Manager coordinates with Relationship Managers for information accumulation for covenant compliance monitoring and annual reviews, and prepares Annual Reviews analyzing financial statements, operating performance, collateral, industry, covenant compliance, and identifying risks. They also prepare Commercial Loan Approvals and Modifications, monitor and coordinate funding documentation for construction loans, administer lines of credit, and work with Relationship Managers to resolve renewals and maturities. Participation in customer calls, recommending risk rating changes, maintaining business relationships for cross-selling opportunities, and validating Borrowing Base Certificates are also key functions. The role involves monitoring management reports for pending maturities, covenant compliance, delinquencies, and financial statement reporting compliance, ensuring timely completion of reviews, modifications, and renewals, and preparing files for auditors, examiners, and regulators. Additionally, the position assists customers with specialized services, maintains knowledge of Bank policies, manages the loan documentation process, and cooperates with internal policies and procedures for risk management and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university
  • five years or more of related commercial experience and/or training required.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret documents.
  • Possesses professional communication and interpersonal skills to write and speak effectively both one-on-one and before groups of clients or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to communicate with clients directly and effectively.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve challenging problems involving several variables in a standardized situation.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the assigned commercial loan portfolio through administration duties.

  • Prepares financial statement spreadsheets to facilitate the analysis of corporate financial statements and tax returns and personal financial statements and tax returns.
  • Reviews related to financial information e.g. credit reports, leases, appraisals and property reports for loan renewals, loan extensions and annual credit reviews.
  • Evaluates business industry and manages issues, analyzes trends and assesses overall credit risk.
  • Identifies the relationship’s strengths and weaknesses.
  • Coordinates with Relationship Managers the accumulation of all required information to facilitate covenant compliance monitoring and annual reviews.
  • Prepares Annual Reviews - analyzes financial statements, evaluates historical operating performance and financial condition collateral and industry analysis, reviews covenant compliance and tracking requirements and identifies operational and credit risks for assigned portfolio customers.
  • Prepares Commercial Loan Approvals and Modifications, including financial, collateral and industry analysis, as appropriate, for related portfolio customers or new customers, as needed.
  • Monitors and coordinates necessary funding documentation/requirements for construction loans.
  • Administers lines of credit; ensures lines of credit are compliant with terms and conditions.
  • Works with Relationship Managers to resolve line of credit renewals and loan maturities.
  • Participates in customer calls with Relationship Managers and Credit Officers.
  • Recommend risk rating changes as appropriate.
  • Maintains ongoing business relationships with assigned portfolio customers to provide a secondary Commercial Banking contact and take advantage of additional cross-selling opportunities.
  • Validates Borrowing Base Certificates.
  • Monitors and maintains management reports for pending maturities of loans, covenant(s) compliance/defaults, loan delinquencies and financial statement reporting compliance/defaults for assigned portfolio.
  • Monitors and ensures the timely completion of annual reviews, modifications and renewals for assigned portfolio.
  • Prepares files for auditors, examiners, and regulators review.
  • Assists customers in obtaining specialized services from other Bank departments as necessary; provides help to customers with specific inquiries or service problems.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of Bank operating policies and procedures which impact commercial services.
  • Manage loan documentation process for new customers and assigned portfolio customers.
  • Review loan documentation, both internally prepared and attorney prepared to ensure accuracy of the approved term and conditions, as needed.
  • Resolve problems related to content of documentation.
  • Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the position, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.
  • Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements.
