About The Position

The Commercial Loan Documentation Specialist II will evaluate individual loan requests for compliance, underwriting requirements and bank policies. Prepare commercial loan documents. Assure that all documentation is complete and accurate when sent to the branches. Conduct pre-signing and pre-funding review of loan documentation, prepare Loan Closing Letters and authorize funding of these loans. Act as a backup for booking, appraisals, participations and other areas of the department.

Requirements

  • Good computer skills in a Windows environment with proficiency in Word, Access, and Excel
  • 5+ years’ experience in preparing loan documents
  • Proficient in use of LaserPro, DNA and Sageworks
  • High confidence, able to prioritize risk management needs while understanding lenders’ priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to identify the proper “structure” of loan requests from the lending teams
  • Demonstrated ability to determine legal entity structure from entity documentation and to identify proper “signing” authority of borrower(s)/grantor(s)/guarantor(s) which are corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships or individuals.
  • Good analytical, oral and written communication skills combined with the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to develop and work in a team setting.
  • Advanced understanding of Loan Documentation, Regulations, and Credit issues.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the following regulations: HMDA, Flood insurance requirements, Appraisals
  • Working understanding of loan policies & procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Loan Documents. Prepare loan documentation, with limited assistance/supervision, on the following loan types: Loans involving entities as borrower(s), grantor(s) and guarantor(s), Unsecured or with collateral, Loan is within policy, Complex loans.
  • Review Bank Loans. Assure that loan files comply with Bank policy and federal regulations. Evaluate the completeness and accuracy of loan documents, collateral position and accuracy of risk grading for all loans over $25,000.
  • Conduct detailed Pre-documentation reviews of Commercial Loans. Assure that loan files contain evidence of compliance with applicable Bank policies and federal regulations (primarily HMDA, CRA, Flood Hazard Act, OFAC, Fair Credit Act, UCC article IX, and regulations AA, B, O, U). Evaluate underwriting documentation such as credit reports, preliminary title reports, LAR, corporate or entity documents, state filings, etcetera to verify details of loan request, authority to sign documents, legal name(s) of borrower(s) or other signer, appraisals or collateral evaluations comply with Bank policy, proper loan approval authority is evidenced in file, and loan structure and terms are within technical abilities of the Bank’s computer system to handle. Identify documentation and potential legal weakness in credits and make needed adjustments or recommend corrective actions. Review completed “Loan” package for accuracy and completeness, prepare a “Loan Closing letter of Instructions” as needed, and authorize release of “Loan” package for customer signature.
  • Conduct Pre-funding review of loans over $250,000 and authorize disbursement of funds.
  • Conduct examination of signed and “booked” loans over $25,000. Assure loans have been risk rated by loan officers. Verify that proper signatures were obtained on “Loan” documents and all necessary documents are in file. Verify compliance with conditions stipulated on the “Loan Closing Letter of Instructions”. Identify and record deficiencies in documentation or pending items.
