About The Position

Our client, a well-established and highly respected insurance organization, is seeking a Commercial Lines Team Leader to play a critical role in building and scaling the business. This is a unique opportunity to join at the ground level of a startup environment backed by an experienced and successful leadership team. This individual will serve as both a hands-on leader and technical expert—responsible for managing a growing book of business “soup to nuts” while helping shape workflows, processes, and team structure as the agency expands.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Commercial Lines insurance experience, with strong generalist background
  • Proven experience handling accounts across real estate, construction, and contractor segments
  • Deep understanding of multiple lines of coverage including Property, General Liability, Auto, Umbrella/Excess, and Professional lines
  • Experience managing accounts “soup to nuts” with minimal oversight
  • Strong marketing and placement experience with both admitted and non-admitted carriers
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial or startup-like environment
  • Leadership experience or readiness to step into a team leadership role
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with agency management system Applied Epic

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of a commercial lines book of business, including marketing, quoting, binding, renewals, endorsements, billing, and claims coordination
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering high-touch service and strategic guidance
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers to negotiate competitive terms, pricing, and coverage enhancements
  • Handle complex accounts across multiple industries, with an emphasis on real estate, construction, and contractor risks
  • Develop and implement workflows, processes, and best practices to support operational scalability
  • Assist in hiring, training, and mentoring additional team members as the agency grows
  • Collaborate with leadership on strategy, market positioning, and long-term growth initiatives
  • Ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation within the agency management system
