The Commercial Lines Marketing Associate is responsible for the marketing, quoting, and binding new commercial insurance business in the lower-middle market segment. This role works directly with producers and carriers to place business alignment with Hub Heartland's coverage standards, preferred carrier partnerships, and strategic initiatives and is responsible for quoting, binding, and issuing policies on house accounts as directed by the Chief Marketing Officer, working closely with the service team.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in commercial insurance.
  • Three years of experience in marketing or underwriting.
  • Thorough knowledge of commercial lines coverages and markets, including property and casualty rating.
  • Producer's license required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with producers, carriers, and service teams.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Market new business across all lines of commercial insurance in the lower-middle market segment, working directly with producers and carriers to place coverage aligned with company standards, preferred carrier partnerships, and initiatives, and directly impact revenue goals through new business acquisition.
  • Quote, bind, and issue policies for house accounts as directed by the Chief Marketing Officer and manage call-in and cross-departmental spin-off business that does not require an assigned producer, including submission gathering, quoting, and binding of coverage.
  • Underwrite commercial accounts within insurance company delegated underwriting authority, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Prepare and coordinate building replacement cost valuations and determine flood zones using available resources; verify appropriate rating classifications, such as GL and auto class codes for new business submitted; and assist in obtaining other information needed to support the underwriting submission.
  • Conduct internal handoff meetings with the assigned service team once new business is bound, ensuring a clean transition of account details and expectations.
  • Coordinate directly with Hub specialty practice groups across the boundaryless resource network to secure market access and quotes for specialized lines of coverage.
  • Serve as a point of contact for producers on new business submission preparation, reviewing materials for alignment with Hub Heartland coverage standards before submissions are routed to carriers.
  • Attend carrier meetings and build relationships with insurance company underwriters through professional risk submissions, carrier visitation, and fair but firm negotiation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of carrier appetite, coverage advantages, program changes, line of business trends, rating technique, and coverage development.
  • Assist in the analysis of line of business and carrier production trends, and recommend corrective action where deficiencies are identified.
  • Responsible for all post binding activities, including carrier documentation and agency management system (EPIC) entry.
  • Ensure marketing workflows are captured in the agency management system in accordance with Hub Heartland policies and procedures.
  • Execute a quality control process for all proposals and quotations delivered, assuring coverage, condition, rating, and pricing accuracy.
