About The Position

Supports and demonstrates IMA’s core values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion. Cultivates and maintains professional communication with clients, production staff, and other associates, managing client and insurance company questions and issues. Leads and develops direct reports, including Account Executives, and oversees service teams within a specified industry. Performs functions of the role within an IMA office more than 50% of the time. Monitors and coordinates training and development of service team members, assigns new and transfers accounts to maintain workloads, and ensures quality control standards are met. Conducts regular coaching and performance reviews. Collaborates with Industry Practice Leads to support practice strategies. Develops marketing strategy for new and renewal business and negotiates with insurance carriers. Develops service plans tailored to client needs and coordinates services with other IMA departments. Accountable for timely collection of accounts receivable for their book of business and monitoring the department's. Communicates with producers throughout the renewal process and client lifecycle. Attends education classes and seminars to expand knowledge of market conditions, pricing, and product options. Participates in industry associations and networking events. Attends carrier functions to represent IMA and cultivate relationships. Actively supports the department in completing projects and servicing clients. Serves as a leadership champion for organizational initiatives and communicates with the market president regarding department strategies, needs, and performance.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of similar or related industry experience preferred
  • 5-10 years of management/leadership experience preferred
  • Ability to learn and navigate within Agency Management System (EPIC)
  • Intermediate experience with MS Office products preferred (specifically PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Attains and maintains professional designation – i.e., ARM, CPCU, CIC, etc.
  • Property and Casualty insurance license required for state of business
  • Moderate travel required (25-50%)
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Strong written, oral and communication skills
  • Possesses a significant level of trust and diplomacy
  • Ability to influence those not reporting directly to you

Responsibilities

  • Cultivates and maintains professional and proactive communication level with clients, production staff, and other associates. This includes managing client and insurance company questions/issues concerning services rendered and elevating referred complaints of service failures to the appropriate management staff for investigation and resolution
  • Manages, leads, and develops direct reports, including Account Executives, and has ultimate responsibility of service teams within a specified industry
  • Performs functions of the role within an IMA office more than 50% of the time
  • Monitors and Coordinates: Training and development of all service team members
  • Assigns new accounts and transfers of accounts among staff to maintain workable workloads
  • Ensures quality control standards of the team are continually maintained
  • Conducts regular coaching and performance review meetings with team members and completes documentation as established by Human Resources
  • Collaborates with Industry Practice Leads to support practice strategies
  • With minimal guidance, develops marketing strategy for new and renewal business and prepares, submits, and negotiates new and renewal marketing to insurance carriers
  • In conjunction with producers, develops a service plan tailored to client’s needs and coordinates the services of other IMA departments (Risk Mgt., Claims, Complex Risk, Contract Review, etc.)
  • Prepares and leads internal and client-facing business reviews to ensure level of service and adequacy of client’s program design based on their business needs and risk tolerance
  • Accountability for timely collection of all accounts receivable of own book of business and monitoring that of your department in accordance with IMA Accounts Receivable policy
  • Communicates with the producer throughout the renewal process and life cycle of the client including them in client meetings and internal client strategy meetings
  • Attends education classes, seminars, etc. in combination with individual study programs to expand knowledge and skills. This includes maintaining and communicating current knowledge of market conditions, pricing strategies, market/product options, etc. to all team members and producers with whom you work
  • Participates in industry-specific associations and networking events to cultivate relationships within the industry and expand the IMA brand
  • Attends carrier functions to represent IMA and further cultivate carrier underwriter and management relationships
  • Actively supports the department by participating in completion of all duties required to complete a project and service a client
  • Serves as a leadership champion of organizational initiatives
  • Communicates with market president regarding department strategies, needs, and performance
