The Commercial Lender is responsible for identifying, soliciting, developing, managing, servicing, and expanding Commercial Banking relationships. This role involves offering a full range of loan, deposit, and non-credit services to existing and prospective commercial clients, and referring personal financial needs of business clients to the appropriate team member. The Commercial Lender will serve as the relationship manager for commercial clients, developing and maintaining a "trusted advisor" relationship. This position requires a self-managed calling program to develop new commercial lending and deposit relationships, soliciting complex commercial loans and full banking relationships through client and prospect calls. The role also involves following up on referrals, building strong relationships with prospects and centers of influence, and acting as a specialist on complex and technical commercial requests. A detailed understanding of lending, credit, and finance is essential, as is the ability to interview applicants, request necessary information, evaluate and mitigate risk, and prepare credit files for review. The Commercial Lender will balance prospecting efforts with portfolio management responsibilities, ensure commercial credit union relationships are fully developed and retained, and obtain and maintain Centers of Influences. This role also involves preparing for client reviews, identifying opportunities for presenting unsolicited solutions/advice, and assuming a leadership role within the department by mentoring and training Business Services Officers.
