About The Position

Mike’s Bikes is seeking a Commercial & Inventory Manager — Parts & Accessories to own the total buy for all rider needs beyond the bike, including components, tires, helmets, apparel, tools, electronics, and more. This role involves aggregating store-level SKU selections into a regional buy, managing purchase orders across a diverse vendor base, and running weekly allocations to stores. The manager will be responsible for vendor terms, total purchase order volume, and commercial commitments, acting as a crucial checkpoint for order accuracy and budget adherence. This is a new position within the Purchasing team, which operates under a Hybrid Purchasing Model where process owners manage stages of the buying cycle end-to-end, and specialists focus on specific product departments or regions. All roles report to the Director of Purchasing.

Requirements

  • Ideally 5+ years of experience in purchasing, buying, replenishment, or inventory planning.
  • Knowledge of bike parts, components, and cycling accessories; shop or service experience is a plus.
  • Comfort managing thousands of SKUs and many vendors simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills, including understanding of reorder points, fill rates, sell-through, and inventory turn.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor relationship management skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Proficiency with ERP / inventory management systems, Excel or Google Sheets, and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and explain documents such as vendor agreements, purchase orders, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, in English.

Responsibilities

  • Roll up store-level SKU selections into one regional buy for the category, incorporating DC-held stock.
  • Conduct pre-order conflict checks for overlapping requests, budget limits, and vendor minimums, resolving issues with store-level owners.
  • Create, submit, and edit stock purchase orders, including recurring replenishment for a high SKU count.
  • Source new SKUs or additional units to fill assortment gaps when reallocation is insufficient.
  • Monitor category margin levels in real-time and execute strategic pricing adjustments, markdowns, and promotions to achieve gross margin targets and maximize revenue.
  • Track product velocity and sell-through rates across all channels, implementing proactive clear-outs or gap-fills based on seasonal trends and model-year transitions.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, and E-commerce teams to design and execute commercial campaigns, promotional pushes, store placement strategies, and supplier-funded marketing initiatives.
  • Maximize financial performance by leveraging vendor incentives, back-end volume rebates, terms, co-op marketing funds, and special buy opportunities.
  • Run weekly P&A allocations from distribution centers to stores based on store-level selections and inventory targets.
  • Manage stock balancing between regions and distribution centers to ensure adequate inventory for stores.
  • Maintain distribution center stock availability for store replenishment by working with Demand & Supply on reorder points.
  • Execute against open-to-buy, net working capital, and inventory health targets, including management of aged and slow-moving SKUs.
  • Coordinate incoming shipments with vendors against the plan set by Demand & Supply.
  • Own vendor terms, total PO volume, and the total commercial commitment for P&A brands and distributors.
  • Resolve issues such as delays, unit shortages, and damage, working with Purchasing Operations.
  • Plan new product introductions, line reviews, SKU rationalization, closeouts, and build sales plans around them.
  • Execute the category commercial plan, including terms, promotions, and incentives, ensuring pricing accuracy.
  • Support the Director in executive vendor negotiations and contribute to department strategy.
  • Drive P&A category financial performance, including revenue, margin, units, and margin percentage.
