About The Position

Blake Thermal Sales & Service, Inc. is seeking experienced Commercial/Industrial Boiler/Burner/Controls Specialists to join our team. We are the official representative for Cleaver Brooks, Camus, and other C&I equipment manufacturers in the thermal energy industry. We are looking for technicians with a focus on advanced control systems, and we are interested in technicians at all levels, from apprentices to senior personnel. We offer factory training, certifications, and on-the-job training. Our team members are mechanically/electrically minded, self-managed, and customer-focused. Blake Thermal Sales & Service Inc. is a full-service thermal solutions company with a 98-year history, supplying engineered products, services, and complete systems for commercial, industrial, medical, educational, and manufacturing facilities. We are looking for Field Service Boiler/Burner/Controls Technicians with a positive attitude, a solution-oriented approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work as part of a team. As factory-authorized service technicians, we aim for world-class customer service and efficiency. This role requires hands-on ability for combustion tuning and analysis, troubleshooting a full range of burners, factory start-up and commissioning of various C&I thermal equipment, boiler room analyses, understanding of boiler support equipment, and knowledge of electrical, controls, and instrumentation wiring diagrams. Burner upgrades/conversions and implementation of energy efficiency measures are also key functions. Technical report writing is also required.

Requirements

  • Experienced C&I burner, controls, combustion technicians wanted.
  • Must have a positive attitude with a solution-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Must take pride in your work and have the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must have the ability to respond quickly to service calls with good time management and planning.
  • Must be motivated and have a fast-paced personality with a strong work ethic.
  • Able to work effectively with little or no supervision once trained.
  • Able to read, write and have good oral communication skills in English.
  • Proficient computer ability for producing required reports.
  • Must maintain a valid Driver's License to drive rental vehicles.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical for driving fleet vehicles as required.
  • Requires completion of company-provided confined space & lockout/tagout training.
  • Responsible for the prevention and/or mitigation of any environmental impact associated with job-related tasks, accidents, and emergency situations or conditions.
  • Actively promotes safe behaviors and health awareness at all times in the execution of daily tasks.
  • Ability to pass a pre-hire drug test, pre-hire background check and completion of an I-9 form.

  • A CDL is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled & emergency maintenance/repair of the equipment and all other associated equipment.
  • Perform installation of the equipment at customer sites as well as conducting pre-installation assistance.
  • Be available for "On Call" 24-hour emergency service rotation.
  • Perform combustion tuning and analysis as well as troubleshooting skills to determine and adjust a full range of burners from .5 to 30 MMBTU input.
  • Perform factory start-up and commissioning of various C&I thermal equipment including hydronic boilers, high- and low-pressure steam systems including firetube and industrial water tube boilers, steam turbines, heat exchangers, snow melt systems, etc.
  • Conduct boiler room analyses for possible opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Perform burner upgrades/conversions and advanced burner control upgrades/conversions.
  • Implement energy efficiency measures.
  • Write technical reports.
