About The Position

WMS Mechanical Solutions is seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team. This role focuses on sophisticated HVAC systems, controls, VFDs, chillers, heat recovery equipment, and semi-custom air handling systems across a wide variety of commercial applications. We are looking for technicians who enjoy troubleshooting, learning advanced technology, and becoming true experts in the field. This position offers significant BAS and controls exposure, hands-on work with VFDs and modulating equipment, a diverse equipment portfolio, and strong technical growth opportunities within a collaborative, highly skilled team environment. Technicians will gain exposure to cutting-edge HVAC technologies.

Requirements

  • Commercial HVAC service experience
  • EPA Certification
  • Strong electrical and refrigeration troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working with complex HVAC systems
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Comfortable using computers and mobile technology
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Carrying tools and materials up/down ladders
  • Working on rooftops in extreme heat and weather conditions
  • Occasional 10+ hour days
  • Working 5+ days/week during peak workload periods
  • Occasional travel or out-of-town work
  • Lifting 50+ lbs regularly
  • Extended rooftop work in heat and weather
  • Long workdays during busy periods
  • Daily ladder use and physical field work
  • Computer-based documentation and communication
  • Learning new HVAC software and controls tools

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC equipment
  • Perform startups, inspections, warranty work, and preventative maintenance
  • Troubleshoot electrical, refrigeration, airflow, and controls-related issues
  • Program and configure unit controllers and VFDs
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and control sequences
  • Work with BAS systems and digital controls interfaces
  • Communicate professionally with customers and team members
  • Complete service documentation using email, PDFs, Teams, and other digital tools
  • Maintain safe work practices at all times
  • Participate in occasional overtime and travel as needed
