About The Position

The Commercial Helper I rides on the vehicle and assists a Driver in providing prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services for customers on a designated route. The Helper safely loads waste, carries bags and containers to the vehicle for disposal, and guides the Driver from the ground while maneuvering the vehicle. The position also helps keep the vehicle, route, and work area clean.

Responsibilities

Ride on the vehicle and assist the Driver while servicing customers on a designated route.
Operate the packing mechanism and levers or handles that activate the lifting and loading mechanism.
Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip; spray and clean the hopper and truck, if applicable.
Perform complete pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections according to Company policy and report safety issues on standard reports.
Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
Clean areas affected by accidental waste spills in accordance with applicable safety standards and policies.
Meet required departmental productivity standards to ensure customers are serviced in a timely and efficient manner.
Follow required safety policies and procedures.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
