About The Position

At Structural Integrity Associates (SI Solutions), we solve complex engineering, materials, inspection, and operational challenges across the nuclear industry. Our teams support both the operating fleet and advanced reactor developers through integrated engineering, inspection, chemistry, vibration, digital solutions, aging management, and analytical services. We are seeking a Senior Commercial Grade Dedication & Software Qualification Engineer responsible for ensuring commercially developed software, digital engineering tools, instrumentation, sensors, data acquisition systems, AI-enabled applications, and related hardware are suitable for use in nuclear safety-related applications through Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD), software qualification, and NQA-1 compliant processes. As the technical authority, this role partners closely with Engineering, Digital Engineering, Inspection, NDE, Materials, QA, IT, and project teams to implement scalable software quality and commercial dedication programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, Physical Sciences, Quality Assurance, or related technical field
  • Minimum of 10 years of nuclear industry experience with significant focus on Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) and NQA-1 implementation
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience performing Commercial Grade Dedication
  • Strong working knowledge of NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, NEI 14-05A, software V&V, configuration management, supplier qualification, and corrective action programs.
  • Experience qualifying commercial software and supporting nuclear engineering organizations.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced technical environment
  • Ability to travel (~15%) to support client meetings, project execution, audits, surveillance, and surveys

Nice To Haves

  • Experience qualifying engineering software: ANSYS, Abaqus, Mathcad, MATLAB, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with 10 CFR Part 21 is desired
  • Experience with software lifecycle management, configuration control, or software change evaluation.
  • Experience with instrumentation, sensors, PLCs, embedded systems, or data acquisition systems.
  • Experience with digital engineering platforms, cloud-based tools, or AI-assisted engineering applications.
  • Lead Auditor certification.
  • Experience with EPRI software programs, EPRI CGD guidance, or similar nuclear industry guidance.
  • Knowledge of IEEE software quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop dedication plans consistent with NQA-1, NEI 14-05A, EPRI guidance, NRC guidance, and 10 CFR 50 Appendix B.
  • Determine safety significance or function, identify critical characteristics, establish acceptance criteria, and select appropriate acceptance methods.
  • Prepare and review CGD technical evaluations, acceptance plans, and final dedication packages, and work with QA to obtain approval.
  • Evaluate supplier documentation, objective evidence of quality, procurement requirements, test records, certificates, and documentation gaps.
  • Support supplier audits and surveys, documentation receipt, functional testing, engineering independent review, software V&V.
  • Support supplier qualification, procurement engineering, corrective action reporting, and QA record development.
  • Lead qualification of commercial software including engineering analysis software, inspection software, data analytics tools, cloud-based platforms, and AI-assisted engineering applications.
  • Establish software intended use, limitations, safety significance, acceptance basis, approved configurations, and qualification records.
  • Review software problem reports, corrective actions, release notes, patches, and version changes for impact on qualified use.
  • Support dedication and qualification of pressure, temperature, vibration, strain, flow, and monitoring instrumentation.
  • Define measurement range, accuracy, response time, environmental limits, failure modes, and safety-function performance requirements.
  • Review M&TE, calibration traceability, test procedures, test setup adequacy, test results, and acceptance records.
