About The Position
The Commercial Glazing Pre-Construction Expert will manage projects through all pre-construction phases for the Commercial Edmonton location. This role involves preparing estimates and tender submissions, reviewing project documents, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring efficient project handoff to field teams.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years experience in commercial glazing, curtain wall, storefront, or building envelope systems
- Strong understanding of aluminum glazing systems and fabrication methods
- Experience with estimating
- Experience with shop drawings
- Experience with procurement
- Experience with fabrication coordination
- Experience with project management
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and glazing system details
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Practical understanding of field installation methods and sequencing
- Experience coordinating with General Contractors and suppliers
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Nice To Haves
- Supervisory or leadership experience is considered an asset
- Knowledge and experience working with Kawneer systems is strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage commercial glazing estimates and tender submissions
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and tender documents
- Coordinate with AutoCAD/shop drawing personnel during drawing development
- Work with General Contractors, consultants, and architects to obtain shop drawing approvals
- Coordinate procurement of aluminum systems and stock lengths, insulated glass units, and hardware and specialty components
- Prepare fabrication cut lists and shop details for production staff
- Provide technical support to fabrication and installation teams
- Review system details for constructability and fabrication efficiency
- Coordinate project handoff to field superintendents and lead installers
- Track project changes, revisions, RFIs, and approvals during pre-construction
- Assist with scheduling and material lead-time coordination
