We have an opening for an Estimator in our Mankato, MN office. The primary job of the Estimator is developing and maintaining relationships with Sub-Contractor / Suppliers, creating, and analyzing cost estimates and project budgets, managing project costs, communicating effectively with both internal and external project team members.

Requirements

Degree in Construction Management, Accounting, or applicable area
5+ years of estimating, procurement management experience
In-depth knowledge of commercial construction industry methods, practices, materials, and tools involved in construction
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret project documents
Self-directed leader with excellent organizational, communication and project management skills, effectively and efficiently managing multiple project bids simultaneously
Must be collaborative, flexible, innovative and an excellent collaborative driver focused on ensuring positive working relationships with subcontractors, vendors and APX team members to meet/exceed the needs of the business
Ability to manage change, solve problems and work in ever changing situations with a professional understanding of urgency and effective adaptability skills resulting in effective production and quality on all projects
Must be able to work in various conditions from office, field, client locations and job sites
Must be able to work with various office equipment in various environments
Must wear required PPE at all times and follow all safety requirements while on job sites
Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time and distance
Ability to simultaneously address multiple complex priorities and problems
Work under high pressure and safety sensitive situations in a positive and collaborative manner
Strong-problem solving-skills and ability to exercise independent judgement and make decisions related to production, safety, and quality
Ability to think critically, recognize connections, translates goals into action, and use sound judgement to make choices in alignment with strategy, production schedules, project budgets and company culture/values

Nice To Haves

2 years of experience as a Project Manager in Commercial Construction (preferred)

Responsibilities

Collaborate with project team on the start-to-finish cycle of new and existing projects ensuring that estimates are completed within the designated time frame, budget and scope
Analyze project plans, specifications, and scope of work to determine project costs and produce detailed estimates
Follow up with contractors on bids, providing feedback focusing on maintaining collaborative relationship, competitive pricing and material availability
Analyze project risks and contingencies, considering them in the estimation process
Conduct cost comparisons and evaluate the financial impact of different approaches and scenarios, identifying alternative materials, construction methods and cost saving strategies
Collaborate with the sales and business development teams to review bid documents and gather necessary documents
Participate in bid review meetings, providing insights and recommendations to enhance the competitiveness of bids
Supplier and Subcontractor management
Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions and material costs
Other duties and tasks as needed.
Stay updated on industry trends, construction materials, technologies, and pricing fluctuations
Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring reliable and competitive pricing
Provide regular reports and updates to management on estimating activities, project costs and bid performance
