Commercial Garage Door Technical Support Specialist
About The Position
OGD Overhead Garage Door is seeking a Commercial Garage Door Technical Support Specialist to join their team. This role is designed for experienced field technicians who want to leverage their extensive knowledge in a new capacity. Instead of performing hands-on installations and repairs, you will provide remote technical support to field technicians facing challenging commercial door, rollup, leveler, or dock system issues. This position allows you to utilize your deep understanding of the trade from an office environment, offering a predictable schedule and a chance to mentor others.
Requirements
- Years of hands-on experience installing and servicing commercial overhead doors, rollups, dock levelers, and dock equipment
- The ability to visualize a problem from a description or a video feed and talk someone through a fix step by step
- Patience and clear communication
- Comfort with phones, video calls, and basic tech tools
- A desire to stay in the trade you know, just from a chair instead of a truck
Responsibilities
- Take incoming calls and chat requests from field technicians who are stuck on a job
- Walk techs through diagnosis and repair in real time, using live video to see exactly what they’re seeing
- Draw on your own field experience to identify root causes fast — electrical, mechanical, or structural
- Help techs think through commercial door, rollup, dock leveler, and dock equipment issues they haven’t seen before
- Document recurring issues and help build out internal troubleshooting resources
- Be a mentor voice for less experienced techs, without ever leaving your desk
- Other job duties as assigned
